The Supreme Court Monday dismissed a plea filed against the Allahabad high court's order upholding the acquittal of Union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra Teni in the 2000 Prabhat Gupta murder case. A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal said that it was not inclined to interfere with the concurrent findings of the courts below and dismissed the special leavepetition filed by a family member of the deceased. Addressing the 78th foundation day programme at the University of Rajasthan, presided over by Governor Kalraj Mishra, the BJP MP claimed the 12th century mosque was built over a Sanskrit university, whose remains can still be seen there. This move will ensure that rural poor and farmers have access to affordable generic medicines, similar to their urban counterparts. Shah stated that the Modi government's steps to streamline Jan Aushadi Kendras have already helped the poor save around Rs 26,000 crore on medicines in the last nine years. Observing that a woman residing in her matrimonial home is entitled to receive maintenance for necessary expenses, Bombay high court upheld an order that directed a man to pay interim maintenance to his wife and minor son. "The mere fact that she is residing in the matrimonial home is not a pretext to disentitle her to a reasonable amount of maintenance. She still needs some amount towards food, medicine, clothes and educational expenses," Justice Neela Gokhale said.
